Skin Cancer

All lumps and growths should be checked for possible skin cancer. Some of the most common examples:

  • Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)
  • Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)
  • Melanoma (MM)

Reducing sun exposure can reduce the incidence of common types of skin cancer.

"Dr. Salit and his staff are terrific! Whether performing a skin surgery or a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, Dr. Salit is meticulous and a true expert."  – Jane D

COMMON CANCERS

BASAL CELL CARCINOMA (BCC)

BCC is the most common skin cancer and is seen most frequently in fair complected individuals.

Surgical removal is the usual treatment. In unusual cases, other modalities such as radiotherapy may be used.

SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA (SCC)

SCC is the second most common skin cancer, also seen on sun-damaged skin.

Surgical removal is the usual treatment. Other treatments may be used at times.

MELANOMA (MM)

Melanoma is the most lethal. However, when caught early, melanoma is highly curable.

Surgical  removal is the mainstay of MM treatment. New immunologic therapies for  advanced cases are now available and in the offing.
